Jessica Ellen Cornish is an English musician and singer who goes under the name Jessie J. Jessie gained fame early for her unusual music style that incorporates soul vocals with pop, hip-hop, and electropop. Her awards include the 2011 Critics' Choice Brit Award as well as BBC's Sound of 2011 as well as numerous nominations. Her career began at the young age of 11, when she was cast for the musical 'Whistle Down the Wind' by English composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. Then, she joined the National Youth Music Theater and appeared in their 2002 show"The Late Sleepers,". The album she released her debut "Who You Are" was made available in February, 2011. It was her biggest hit that year. It was a massive commercial success, selling 105,000 copies in the UK, and 34,000 copies in the US, within the first week of publication. It topped the charts at #2 among the UK Albums Chart and number 11 on the US Billboard 200. Jessie has also earned a reputation for her charitable work and participates in charitable organizations such as 'Children in Need,' and "Comic Relief."
